ELON MUSK – THE MODERN DAY INNOVATION WIZARD (THE CYBERTRUCK)
Readers would
be wondering by now what this article is trying to communicate. Well I want to
discuss one of the greatest innovators of our century and how much he is contributing
to mankind.
I have been
fascinated by Elon for over 3 years now since the release of the world-famous
Tesla Model X. In case you don’t know, it’s an electric vehicle with the Falcon
Wing back doors. This man has contributed so much when it comes to innovation
than we realize. Before I discuss about the latest breakout in the internet
now, lets first know some intriguing facts about Mr. Elon.
- He is originally from South Africa
- He founded the most popular online payment platform; PayPal
- He is the founder and CEO of the worlds most popular sustainable car company; Tesla
- He founded and controls the disruptive space exploration company; Space X
- He is on a mission to transform planet Mars as a second habitable planet after Earth
- He built the Falcon rocket which he believes will make space tourism much more convenient and affordable.
- Hyperloop is a company he founded with the mission of shortening the time to travel between cities in minutes. It's basically a tunnel with a train-like looking vehicle.
These are
just the tip of the iceberg because there are so much more things to his achievement
which I can’t list out here.
The main
purpose of this article is to talk about the latest trend from his Tesla
company. After a series of announcements about the release of his anticipated
electric truck officially tagged as the “CyberTruck”, people have been so keen
to know what he has to offer. Tesla is mainly known for its stylish sporty SUV
and saloon cars and hearing that Tesla is entering the truck business was quite
fascinating.
Tesla
isn’t the first company to make an electric car. The first company to produce a
commercially successful electric car is Toyota with the hybrid Prius. The Toyota
Prius was a groundbreaking piece of innovation that graced the automotive
industry due to its fuel efficiency, affordability and electric inclusion. This
car was introduced to combat the rising high fuel prices and Toyota did an
excellent job in taking advantage of this golden opportunity. However, as fuel
prices began to decline, demand for these hybrid vehicles began to fall. People
wanted more muscle fast cars which could offer more range. Ever since, there haven’t
been any electric car by any company as people lost interest in electric
powered vehicles.
However, Elon
took up the mantle to make electric cars great again which he finally achieved after
the success of the Tesla Model X, Model S and Model 3. That isn’t the end
though because Elon have bigger ambitions for the company.
He announced
that he’ll be launching an electric truck, and this was after the reveal of
another new company called Rivian which took another approach to launch an
electric truck instead of a saloon car as most car companies would do. The Rivian
truck have been on the news for quite some time now and Tesla is more
interested to see more companies venturing into the electric car business. This
can be observed as Elon congratulates companies like Porsche when they launched
their own electric hybrid.
Let’s talk
about the CyberTruck. The CyberTruck have finally been unveiled and fans seems
to be having mixed reactions about it. Mainly because of the design that Tesla
have chosen for the much-anticipated truck. There have been several renders of
how people perceived the CyberTruck would look like but unfortunately, Elon
blew everyone’s mind by giving them something unexpected. The vehicle defied the
odds of how a truck should be like by boasting of features such as the
following:
- 250kW+ Supercharging capability
- Autopilot
- Adaptive Air Suspension
- Stainless steel unibody rather than the traditional curved truck
- 0 to 60 miles per hour
- Transparent metal glass which could resist hard pressures
At first sight I couldn’t describe how I felt about the vehicle but after a day I feel like buying one if I had the funds. Well, a lot of media companies have talked down about the new car and speculated that the car would be a huge failure after the launch due to the glass test on stage which didn’t live up to its hype, but Elon have disclosed reasons for the failure which we could all accept as true. However, after a day of the release, Elon tweeted that the car has received about 146,000 pre-orders which is mind blowing. People seems to be very much interested in this new mobility design. The number of orders has reached 200,000 currently according to Elon’s latest tweet.
Truck design
have been relatively the same over 30 years and its time we re-imagine what a truck
should look like. This was Elon’s statement during the unveiling as he
displayed various pickup trucks by different brands to clarify the fact.
Well, I personally think that Elon is doing to the car industry what Steve Jobs did to the mobile phone industry.
It's time to
start a new era of car design and thanks to Elon for his innovative thinking
and also thanks to the excellent Tesla team.
